If you receive an SMS from an unknown sender, it's good to be vigilant and trust your gut feeling. Even if the SMS is from a well-known company, you should be careful as it is easy to send fake SMS from numbers that appear to be genuine.

To help you avoid being fooled, I have gathered a few tips that will help you avoid the most common mistakes.

• Does any potential link go to a known domain?
  • NOTE: Keep in mind that certain characters can easily be replaced with others. For example, dhl.com where a one can easily be slipped in to take you to "dh1.se" instead. Which at a quick glance looks correct but takes you to the scammer's website where they ask for card details and/or other information so they can withdraw money or trick you in other ways.
• Have you really ordered something?
  • Yes – Open the Postnord app directly on your phone
  • No – Go directly to Postnord's website and look up the page to, for example, track packages.
• Double-check in an official app or page:
  • Postnord app
  • Go to dhl.com, postnord.se and enter the tracking number
• Won something? NO, nobody gives out small or large prizes out of pure goodwill and to be nice! If you "just" have to pay Xkr to claim your prize, it is a sure sign that it is a scam.
