Update: This is an older rescued post from 2019. Apparently the problem still exists 🙁 However, I have chosen not to transfer the 81 comments that existed.

NOTE : If you have received an SMS like this or similar, you should check your mobile bill immediately and also ask your mobile provider to block payment services. (For the ones you use, there are usually better solutions anyway.)

Today I received several scam SMS that look like the below:

You have ordered a subscription to PrizeKing. Price 50 SEK/week. To confirm the order enter PIN code 056553

You have started a subscription to PrizeKing. Price 50 SEK/week. Send STOP to 72144 to cancel Customer Service: 0200 753 411 (Industrial Electronics PTE LTD)

I googled around a bit on both PrizeKing and 72144 and immediately found quite a bit showing that it is a scam. In the case of PrizeKing, they seem to have been active with similar spam in other countries for several years. In Sweden, however, it seems to be quite new.

For the number 72144 I found similar scams where those who sent STOP were instead billed 100 SEK a week! Nasty! Furthermore, it seems to be very difficult to get it removed from your mobile phone bill.

So what you should do if you receive one or more similar SMS is simply delete them!

Haven't seen anyone who called the number for "customer service" but suspect it is an expensive premium-rate number that makes you pay quite a bit and then you still aren't removed.

You have an ongoing subscription to Espabit Abo. It costs 100 SEK per week. Send STOPP to 72144 to cancel. Customer service: 0770 930 031
